Adult Classes

Tae Kwon Do is one of our more popular classes. This class is held twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 6:30pm to 8:00pm.  This is an excellent class for adults, families, and children.  Children must be at least 8 years old.  New students will be accepted during June, but will be looked at on a case by case basis, if new to the area. Belt testing will be held on Saturdays.  Dates for the Saturday sessions will be announced in class. This class is designed to discipline the mind, body, and spirit.  It will give insturction in this non-violent art and a system of complete body excercise.   Comfortable clothing should be worn or students may purchase a gi, information may be obtained from the instructor.  Fee is $15 per person, second and third family members are $10, families of 4 of 5 $35., families larger than this will have a fee of $55 a month.

Tuesday Afternoon Crafts

Air Dry Clay Ornaments - Use rubber stamps to create fun magnets or ornaments.  Dates:  Sept. 15th & 29th.

Fee is $2.00

Blue Jean Bag - An old pair of Blue Jeans is the starting point for this purse.  A little sewing and decoration create a one of a kind purse.  Bring a pair of blue jeans to the first class.  Dates:  Oct. 6,13, & 20th.

Fee $3.00

Landscape Timber Christmas Characters - Choose from a Santa, Elf, Reindeer, or Toy Soldier for this fun holiday decoration.  Dates:  Nov. 3, 10, 17, & 24th. 

Fee:  $5.00

Beaded Santa Pin - This funky little Santa is fun and just a little crazy.  Date:  Dec. 1,8, & 15th.

Fee:  $2.00

Game Bags are available for check out at the Recreation Office.  Equipment includes volleyball, standards and a net, horseshoes, and soccer balls.  A deposit fee is required, the amoung depends on the equipment requested.  Call the Recreation Office to reserve equipment.

Quilting Retreat - November 6th - 8th- Join the fun for a weekend of classes and friendship.  There will be 3 different classes to choose from.  Cost is $70.00, which includes 4 meals as well as instruction.  Contact Molly at the Recreation Office for complete information.

Adult Tap Dancing Lessons - Saturday Thursday Sept. 10th from 6-7pm.  Instructor is Stephanie Madsen.

Partner Dance lessons- Learn a variety of dances, fee is $35 per person for a four to five week session.Starts October 13th 7:00 pm

Piano Lessons for Seniors

Don't give up your dream of leaning how to play the piano.  Apply for ten free piano lessons compliments of the Viola Voight Memorial Music Scholarship.  Applicants must be 55 years or older to apply.  Three scholarships will be awarded, names will be drawn at random.  Must be a beginning piano student (no previus formal lessons) and have access to a piano.  Purchase of music books will be the student's responsibility.  Lessons will be held in the instructors home.  Applicants must live in the Platte County trade area.  Times will be worked out with the student and teacher.  Apply by Sept. 22nd.
