Water Babies

A program providing six month to 4 year old children and their parent an opportunity to learn and experience the fun of exploring the water together. Swim diapers are required for children still in diapers.

Because this is often the first swimming experience for young students without their parents in the water with them, we have lowered the student/ teacher ratio.  The class is for beginning swimmers ages 4 and 5. The class limit will be 6 students.

Level 1 - Intro to Swimming

This class is geared to help students feel comfortable in the water and to enjoy the water safely.  Participants learn skills such as floating without support, gliding, and breath control.

Level 2 - Fundamental Skills

This class provides students with opportunities for success with fundamental skills.  Front and back crawl are taught.

Level 3 - Stroke Development

This class continues the Level 2 skills with an emphasis on freestyle and backstroke, elementary backstroke, and dolphin kick.  Treading will also be introduced along with diving. Participants learn rules for headfirst entries and begin to learn to enter the water headfirst from the side of the pool in deep water.

Level 4 - Stroke Improvement

The purpose of this class is to build student performance and endurance of freestyle & backstroke.  They increase their endurance by swimming freestyle, backstroke and elementary backstroke. Students continue to build upon the dolphin kick by learning butterfly. Basic turning at the wall is also introduced at this level.

Level 5 - Stroke Refinement

This class will focus to coordinate and refine all four of the competitive strokes including; freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, along with elementary backstroke and sidestroke. Flip turns on the front and back are also worked on.

Level 6 - Competitive Swimming/Fitness Swimming

This class will refine the strokes so students swim with ease, efficiency, and power over greater distances. Teaching also focuses on building upon competitive swimming & diving fundamentals.

Adult Classes

Classes for beginners will be offered from 5:00 - 6:00 pm.  Instruction will be geared to the needs of each student. Time may change depending on registration.
