Basketball

The purpose of the Platte County Parks and Recreation Basketball Program is to instill the ideals of teamwork, good sportsmanship, commitment, and self-improvement.

Our goals are to provide:

  • A healthy, safe environment for practices and games
  • The opportunity to learn and play the game of basketball
  • An opportunity for physical activity
  • To provide a positive and enjoyable experience

We believe that involvement in youth activities will provide opportunities for personal growth and development. Our program is designed to be recreational, where winning is secondary to the overall development of our youth,

K-2 Basketball Camp

This is a 4-week program being offered by Platte County Parks and Recreation for Boys and Girls in Kindergarten, First, and Second grade.

This is an instructional, skills based, program designed to introduce our young players to the game of basketball.

Each player will receive a camp t-shirt for their participation in this program.

Cameron and Tiffany Dean will be the program instructors.

Boys Basketball

We have a great Boys Youth Basketball Program for all boys in third through sixth grade. The third and fourth grade boys are grouped together, and the fifth and sixth grade boys are grouped together. We ran the 2016 season starting at the beginning of November and going until the Beginning of December. We are looking into changing our dates for our Fall 2017 season. For these older kids we hold a skills night where both players and coaches are present. The players go into a draft that no player is cut from and are then start practices on their new teams before getting into five weeks of games ending with a season tournament.

Girls Basketball

Our Girls Basketball Program currently splits into two age groups. Third and Fourth grade girls play in an instructional league that works on skills and then lets the girls put them into play with scrimmages. The Fifth and Sixth grade girls take part in a skills night and draft that no player is cut from. Our 2017 Winter season ran for the five weeks from the second week in January through the second week in February finishing with a season tournament for the fifth and six grade division.

We always have a need for new volunteer coaches, please reach out to our office is that is something that you would be interested in.
